: MediaTakeOut.com just got word that Kansas City Police are investigating two shooting Saturday morning that they say are related. According to KCTV5, the shootings involve a Chiefs football player and his girlfriend.
The first shooting was reported at a home near 54th and Chrysler Avenue around 8 Saturday morning.The second was reported a just after the first at a Chiefs practice facility on the Arrowhead facility.
Officials say the player killed his girlfriend, then drove to the practice facility where he shot and killed himself.
The player's name is Jovan Belcher and he's a linebacker on the Chiefs. He and his girlfriend just welcomed a child into the world a few weeks ago.

@80Trees...I agree. The NFL is currently being sued by former players who now know that their helmets were not protective enough for many of them to live normal lives after retiring or injury. For the sake of making a dollar the NFL IMO knowingly hid the truth for years. This is a very tragic situation, I'm not saying that in this case Belcher may have suffered mental illness, there are people who can't handle a broken heart (IF that was the case). @80Trese...yeah, even though the NFL boasts of the great benefits (many health programs including joint replacement, neurological evaluations and spine treatment programs, assisted living partnerships, long-term care insurance, prescription benefits, life insurance programs, and a Medicare supplement program) just the fact that such benefits are offered indicate that it is a sport with long-term physically debilitating consequences. I wouldn't doubt if in the near future, they include language in their contracts that have them agreeing to their knowledge of the possible long-term physical defects (disclaimer). It is truly a parallel to boxing...you just can't keep getting banged into and beat upside the head without some physical issues later in life.
