My black history moment occurred last *** when I viewed the movie, The First Grader, which portrays the life of Kimani Maruge, a Kenyan who participated in the revolt of British rule in Kenya. Sadly and disappointingly, I never learned much about the country Kenya outside of its extremely tall mountain and the establishment of its railroad system. Yet, when I viewed this wonderful movie, I began to learn about Kenya's personal fight for its independence. Kimani Maruge's, one of Kenya's treasures, was reported to be a member of the Mau-Mau movement, a group of freedom fighters. Brutally, Mr. Kimani was tortured for keeping his allegiance to his country and not pledging allegiance to British rule. This warrior had sharpen pencils shoved down his ear canals, which left him partially deaf. He was unmercifully whipped, which left grotesque marks on his back and abdomen. Mr. Maruge's skull was fractured and the tip of his toes were cut-off, but remarkably he survived the British savage acts, and admiringly, took advantage of Kenya's 2003 law, which granted free and national primary schooling for the people. At the age of eighty-three, the Mau-Mau warrior enrolled in primary school and set the record in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest primary school student. As an individual who sacrificed his life and endured unspeakable hardships for Kenyans to be free, his greatest wish and biggest thrill was to learn how to read and write. Thank you, Mr. Kimani Maurge for giving me another reason to be proud of my rich chocolate skin and my ancestral land--Africa.

No she really had on that awful black and white dress. She was at an event with her mother as usual because she has no friends and she spoke to an E! reporter. She said she feels "nothing" has "no cravings" and is having "the best sleep ever". There seemed to be tension btw her and her mother. Greed seems to be finally coming btw the two.
